Compared to other headless options, our content team actually tolerates Contentful. The entry editor is understandable, and workflows are okay. The asset picker can be frustrating when your library gets huge, and search could be better, but overall it’s less painful than most dev-centric CMSes we tested.

Contentful’s content modeling and APIs are superb. As a developer, I love how structured everything is, and the docs are excellent. The new Studio UI is a big improvement for editors. We built multiple frontends (web + mobile) off the same content model without headaches. Support and solution architects have been very responsive.

For smaller projects, Contentful feels reasonably priced. Once we started adding more locales, content types, and environments, the bill shot up. We had to actively decide which content types were ‘worth’ creating to stay within limits, which frustrated our content team. It’s a great tool, but you pay for that quality.
