It was a great place to start investing. But as I learned more, the 0.25% fee started to feel unnecessary when I could just buy VTI or VOO myself on Fidelity for free. Also, their crypto offerings are limited. It's a great product for hands-off people, but if you want control, you'll eventually move on.

I originally joined for investing, but their Cash Reserve (savings) account actually has a really competitive interest rate. Moving money between my checking, cash reserve, and investment goals is seamless. It feels like a complete financial dashboard. I wish the crypto fees were lower, but the core stock/bond investing is solid.

Betterment is perfect for me. I don't want to research stocks. I just set my risk level and auto-deposit schedule, and it handles the rest. The tax-loss harvesting feature alone has paid for the fees multiple times over. The interface is beautiful and shows exactly how my goals are tracking (Safety Net, Vacation, General Investing).
