A simple home base for projects, messages, and files.

We tried to use Basecamp for software dev, and it failed. No Kanban boards, no swimlanes, no detailed issue tracking fields. It's basically just lists and message boards. Great for a marketing agency maybe, but for engineering sprints, it was a nightmare of disorganized lists. We moved back to Jira.

The best feature of Basecamp is how it handles clients. You can toggle what clients see and what is internal-only. It keeps all client communication out of messy email chains and into a centralized record. Clients find it easy to use without training, which is rare. It makes our agency look very professional.

Basecamp is opinionated software, and I love its opinions. It groups everything—chat, files, tasks, schedule—by project. No more hunting through Slack and Drive. The flat pricing is amazing for our growing team; we don't worry about seat costs. It reduces anxiety and notification overload significantly.
