Track your sleep and wake up during your lightest phase.

I like looking at the graphs, but I'm skeptical of how accurate a phone's microphone can be at detecting sleep stages. I've compared it to my Fitbit, and the results are often quite different. It's a fun tool for getting a general idea of your sleep patterns, but I wouldn't treat it as medical-grade data.

The app works well most of the time. But occasionally, it will fail to save a night's recording, or the alarm won't go off, which is a major problem. These bugs are rare, but they are stressful when they happen. Otherwise, the long-term trends have been helpful for correlating my sleep quality with things like exercise and caffeine.

The smart alarm is the killer feature. Instead of a blaring alarm at a fixed time, Sleep Cycle wakes me up in my lightest sleep phase within a 30-minute window. I feel so much less groggy in the mornings. The sleep analysis and trend data are also fascinating. It's well worth the premium subscription.
