It does exactly what it promises and does it well. My only minor complaint is that if you're in multiple teams running Geekbot, the notifications can get a bit noisy. I had to go in and tweak my settings. It's also great for running anonymous retrospectives.

Our remote team is spread across multiple time zones, and live standups were a nightmare. Geekbot solved this overnight. Everyone answers their questions in Slack when they start their day, and a neat summary is posted to the channel. It brings accountability without the meetings. Super easy to set up and customize.

Geekbot is great for simple status updates. But you lose the nuance of a real conversation. You can't ask a follow-up question in the moment or read body language to see if someone is truly blocked. We use it, but we supplement it with a live weekly check-in to cover the gaps.
