Plan rooms, interiors, and buildings with intuitive 3D modeling.

I learned SketchUp in a weekend. It's incredibly intuitive for architectural and interior design concepts. The push/pull tool is genius. The 3D Warehouse is a massive library of pre-made models (furniture, windows, etc.) that saves a ton of time. It's the perfect tool for conceptual design before moving to more complex software.

The base SketchUp is good, but the Extension Warehouse is where the real power lies. There are plugins for everything from photorealistic rendering (V-Ray) to advanced construction modeling. With the right extensions, SketchUp can compete with much more expensive software like Revit or ArchiCAD, especially for residential design.

I used to love SketchUp when you could buy a perpetual license. The move to a mandatory subscription is frustrating. The core software hasn't changed that much, but the price has gone way up. For a hobbyist woodworker, it's hard to justify the annual cost. I'm exploring open-source alternatives like Blender.
