Substack Notes has replaced Twitter for me. It's where the actual intellectual conversation is happening. It drives real subscribers to my newsletter, unlike Twitter which just buried my links. The ecosystem is vibrant. I just wish the chat feature was a bit more robust for community building.

I love the writing experience, but I hate that I don't own my SEO. My posts live on a subdomain (unless I pay $50) and Substack doesn't give me granular control over meta tags or canonical links. It's hard to rank on Google compared to a WordPress site. I feel locked into their platform.

Substack handles everything—hosting, payments, email delivery, and even growth. The 'Recommendations' feature is magic; I gained 500 subscribers just from other writers recommending my newsletter. It feels like a community, not just a tool. I'm making a full-time income here and I never worry about the tech stack.
